inauguration
in the inauguration Obama mention that our success depends "hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism" which is like how in folk culture, people tell us how, that through hard work we can succeed in what we want, and also to be loyal to those we are close with, and that these things are part of what makes a good and meaningful life. Also Obama mentioned God a lot in his speech which goes that religion is important to him in some way, and in parents or family members also told me to go to church on sundays, that god is the only one thats always with you in soul, and to be faithful to god, and to have a good and meaningful life, you need god to be by your side.
Martin Luther King day
On Martin Luther King day i dont really do anything cause i dont celebrate it, but on TV there were alot of shows about him. On this day we're focusing on this man who stood up to fight for more rights for black people and end segregation between whites and blacks. In a good and meaningful life, people say that being equal to one another is part of having a good and meaningful life. So by everyone of different race accepting each other, there is a feeling of unity which people also think is important to having a good and meaningful life.

Holiday insight
Christmas is a day where we celebrate the day Jesus was born by, spending time with family and friends, or going out and partying, and giving each other gifts. Its a day where we waste our money to buy people things, instead of giving them what we already have like it was originally made to be. This goes to show how dependent we've become with technology and other things that didn't exist before. We depend on products corporate media influenced us to want/like, to make other people happy and satisfied with their life.
Christmas shows us that to have a good and meaningful life, we need each other, and other things which we find are meaningful, which reminds me of quotes from Fight Club about how "we're consumers" and how the "things you used to own, now they own you" because each time something hip comes out, people become so interested in it and want to buy it, and then you just stay obsessed with it until a new item comes out and that becomes your new "master" making you waste your money for it, even though you don't need it to survive in this world, just to rank where you are in popularity. So all in all, christmas tells us to spend time with family and friends, drink and party, and become mindless zombie and go out and buy a lot of things while they're still on sale, since things make your life more meaningful.

winter holidays
For christmas, my mom made a lot of food because family members and friends were coming over. We all talked, watched TV, the kids went to my room and played video games, and had fun. Then we eat, and at midnight we open our presents, and show every one what it is. After all that the guest would leave and go back home. On new years, i spent time with my family again, and once it hit 12, we ate 12 grapes saying a desire we had on each grape, and then threw some coins out the window and drank wine, and wished each other a good and healthy future.
The dominant corporate messages of how to live a good and meaningful life, is to be with the people you love, family, friends, and lovers. That spending time with them is fun and makes you happy, so of course whenever its a holiday you're with them, since happiness makes your life meaningful. Also getting things you like make you happy, especially since its free, meaning you didn't need to use your money, which follows the money is important to have a good and meaningful life.
